Steve Sisolak Voted to Make Ambulance Rides & Hospital Stays More Expensive
Steve Sisolak is misleading voters with phony claims that he’ll work to make health care more affordable. Here’s the truth: he voted to make it more expensive to get picked up by an ambulance or stay in a hospital—massively more expensive.
Steve Sisolak increased fees on ambulance rides by 44% in 2016. Fees on critical care transport went up by as much as $353. He made it more expensive for people in need to get urgent, critical care when they may not even be able to consent to the ride in the first place.
A year later, the Las Vegas Review-Journal reported on wildly expensive ambulance rides under Steve Sisolak’s watch saying, “One patient got a $3,606 bill for a four-mile ride. Another was charged $8,460 for a trip from a hospital that could not handle his case to another that could. Still another found herself marooned at an out-of-network hospital, where she’d been taken by ambulance without her consent.”
Steve Sisolak also voted to increase the cost of hospital stays, voting in favor of a 3% increase in the price of rooms and other services at UMC of Southern Nevada Hospital.
Steve Sisolak’s talk on health care is just that—talk. He’s voted to make health care more expensive and put emergency care patients deeper in debt.
Meanwhile, Adam Laxalt has proposed specific plans to improve the affordability, accessibility, and quality of our health care system. It’s clear which candidate actually cares about the people of Nevada.
